Elite sport

An athlete first

Chris brings the same neural rehabilitation approach to professional athletes, helping players reduce injury risk, recover faster and return to play with confidence. He understands elite sport from the inside: a former Junior GB gymnast, he represented Team GB in cycling from 1992 to 2000 and also rode professionally, reaching an individual world ranking of 8th in track cycling, before competing internationally in Ironman triathlon and duathlon. He has also coached the British junior and senior triathlon squads.

Who Chris has worked with

  • Elite football and cricket: ACL and MCL rehabilitation and return to play, with neural activation and reintegration
  • UCI WorldTour cyclists: riders from several teams, focusing on recovery after crashes and surgery, and nerve activation
  • British professional boxer: nerve activation and reintegration of peripheral nerve function

Prevention and recovery

Injury prevention

Return to play

In his clinical experience, Chris has seen many hamstring and ACL injuries fall into a consistent pattern linked to movement asymmetry, often traced back to the side a player habitually sleeps on. By identifying and addressing this imbalance before injury occurs, the aim is to reduce injury risk and improve performance.

After injury, the body often protects itself by inhibiting the muscles around the injured area, known as arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI). The sooner Sigma Technology is used, the quicker the nervous system returns to its normal firing pattern, decreasing the risk of reinjury.

Common injuries Chris works with

  • Hamstring tendon injuries (biceps femoris)
  • ACL, MCL and PCL injuries
  • Lateral ankle instability
  • Lateral hip pain, bone spurs and bursitis
  • Hip impingement (FAI)
  • Lumbar disc compression
  • Stress fractures: metatarsal, tibia and lumbar spine

What elite athletes say

"I think what really makes your approach different is that you don't just focus on treating a specific problem or injury. You look at the body as a whole and find unconventional ways to improve how it moves, how you control it, and how efficiently it works.

It's a complex, systematic approach that develops not only strength and endurance, but also elasticity, fluidity, body control, and the ability to use your body's full functional potential.

And probably the most interesting part is that a lot of the work seems repetitive, sometimes boring, and physically demanding. You don't always see the results immediately. But then, at some point, everything suddenly comes together, and you realise how much it has actually changed your performance.

Especially when you're on the tennis court, your opponent on the other side of the net is practically collapsing from exhaustion, and you're standing there feeling only slightly out of breath!

That's when you really understand the value of all those hours of work and how much of a difference they've made."

Anastasiia, Ukrainian National tennis player

"Three years ago, I came to Chris with achilles and groin problems from football, that I was worried was serious. Before doing anything, he explained how the body functions and how the nervous system works. He then assessed for any asymmetries in my pelvis and general movement that would affect my calves, hamstrings, quads and hip flexors. He also used technology that indicated how my nerves were firing and whether there were any disconnects.

What he found was simple but easy to miss: yet everyone had. It hasn't returned since.

I still see Chris because his understanding of the nervous, neuromuscular and skeletal systems is second to none, he adapts his work to the demands of each sport, and he's always willing to help. Whether you're dealing with a long-term injury or just want to stay in top condition, with or without playing sport, I'd recommend him without hesitation."
